Midnight Moment
Public video installation, Times Square, 2018
Every evening throughout February 2018, Save the Presidents (made in collaboration with Alex Strada) took over the screens of Times Square at midnight as part of Times Square Arts' Midnight Moment. The film was presented across the Morgan Stanley Building, the NASDAQ Tower, the Microsoft Cube, and more than 50 other branded screens. Within this setting, the work functioned as a counter-monument, temporarily interrupting and recontextualizing Times Square's continuous stream of advertising. Positioned within a site where ideas of "America" are continually produced and consumed, the film juxtaposed monumental decline against the spectacle of late capitalism.
