A Realistic Film, 2014
Multi-channel HD video installation, 23 min
This project takes as its point of departure a 1929 religious film made by the British Evangelical Missionary Film Committee which set out to film the and document Christian activities in the Holy land. Appropriating scenes from the only existing copy of the film, the work juxtapose the historical footage with a present- day voyage in undertaken by ophthalmologic St.John’s eye Hospital in East Jerusalem.
The work is asking questions regarding the way history is imagined and represented.
